the big KC

I escaped town this weekend with three of my friends.

We dressed in camo, left late friday night, and gunned it to the Oklahoma/Missouri border. OHP didn't know what hit 'em.

We headed towards Kansas City. It's a nice 4 hour drive, mainly through Missouri. Missourians, we found out, have an odd sense of pronounciation. Take the town of Nevada. No, it's not pronounced like the state. They say "Na-vay-da." El Dorado isn't "el door-ahdo," but "el door-ehdo." And the worst, Versailles. No, it's not pronounced like "Treaty of Versailles" but "ver-sales." Yeah. It's bad. I'm almost surprised they don't pronounce the town of Joplin with a silent J.

We went to the big KC for the Twins vs Royals game. I'm a big Twins fan, but haven't seen a major league game in anything but the metrodome. And as any baseball fan knows, inside baseball just isn't baseball.

Royals suck, but they have an awesome stadium. Kauffman Stadium is a great place to watch a ballgame.

The view was great, the beer was flowing and the Twins pounded the Royals 14-3. It was a good day. Only 28 more stadiums to visit.

Unfortunately, we had to come back.
The forecast is a little ominous.

Fun.

They can't even pronounce their own state correctly. To them, it's Mizz-er-uhh...rather than Mizz-err-ee. What a bunch of wackos!
